The full 10 x 10 feet space with string.
We decided to make a patio from reclaimed, scrap granite countertop cutoffs. This stone comes in many colors & patterns. It is heavy & very durable. Polished smooth like glass. This series documents the start to finish of our patio. From the first day of digging to finished space.
We used many different colors including cutoffs from our own kitchen countertop. All of the granite came from Door County Natural Stone Surfaces. We removed the sod. We dug down 6 inches, leveled it out. Then we laid down 2.4 tons of quarry wash gravel. We compacted that with a gas powered compactor. Then added a little sand to make it the same level as the sidewalk it butts up against. Then it was just make the pieces fit to be as tight as possible. Lots of smashing & breaking fun in this part. Then we applied a product that makes the granite have traction when wet. No Skidding is the name of it. Finally we filled in the gaps with polymer sand that hardens like cement when water is applied. Ta-da! That is it. Now we have a patio for picnics & such. We love it.

This has been here for around thirty years. You can tell the age in part from the ‘open 7 days a week’ on the front; this shop predates Sunday trading! As a child I always used to like coming here as the huge (it was then) store was fun to explore while Dad looked at paint or light fittings. At the back, in a glass house where the garden stuff is now, there used to be a cafe, now long since closed.
Opposite this building stands B&Q’s failed attempt to move into the car maintenance business. Now a wholesaler and shoe shop, this was to be B&Qs answer to Kwikfit.

Sealant & Glaze: Decoupage Gloss Sealer & Triple Thick Glaze Tools: Hand Drill or Power Drill, Pliers NOTE: I tried using kyrlon spray to seal the eggshells first but it caused the ink pad dye to pool in to gritty areas and wasn’t nearly as shiny. (I would not suggest Elmer’s glue. It is too thin for this project. You want something very sticky that will hold the egg shells upon contact. Quick dry tacky glue also works very well.) After you coat the wooden shape press down your egg shells. It helps to ‘size’ the shells so that they will fit what you are trying to cover. Treat them like puzzle pieces and get them to line up as best you can without having too much excess waste hanging over. Press down gently working to push the shells in to the glue. I always wanted a very wide film format, but they are rare, so I decided to make one. I though about lenses, some body design ideas, film formats. So I ended up with a pinhole, 120 film and a Styrofoam board body, and a couple of random plastic parts, nails, glue, hot glue, metal hangers(great source of metal wire). After Loading advance the film to the odd numbers.
And here it is!.

Stroking the leg, and watching the electrical spikes in the nervous system.
As I rubbed the pinned cockroach leg hairs, the neuron spikes were visible on the iPad. They have a simple single neuron per hair system to jack into.
We then ran it backward, and got the leg to dance to a hip hop tun. I wanted to teach it jiu-jitsu. =)
